(Somewhat) Deep Thoughts
If the US Congress agrees to a financial bailout of Wall Street, what does this say about capitalism in a democracy? If it’s so great to live in a free market, shouldn’t the market be allowed to do what the market does; rise, fall and recover on its own, without a flood of taxpayer dollars? Is no one talking about this because it asks a fundamental question about what we hold so dear and go to war and fight about?
How can Westjet be friendly, on time, efficient and – dare I say it – fun to fly for a reasonable price while the Air Canada staff I’ve had dealings with have largely been overly serious drones who behave as if your reasonable request is an imposition? Is it really because Westjet employees are owners too? I will fly Westjet whenever it’s possible and if I can, book a seat in the emergency exit row. Holy legroom Batman!
I have given in and increased the font size on my blackberry. And I’m using a bold font as well. I had no problem getting glasses when the time came and after my recent, poor hearing test I even considered hearing aids (but ultimately decided it was too early) but I was resisting the font increase with the whole of my being! Mostly because the screen is so small, the bigger the font, the fewer words you can see. I like to quickly scan things to determine if they need my immediate attention. That’s not easy to do when all that’s visible is “Hi Lisa, I’m writing to tell you that…”
