Last Comics Standing

I believe I’ve mentioned previously that this season of Last Comic Standing has been the best by far, so far. It’s tighter, the comics’ personalities are showcased better and the editing is far superior.  We now know the final few quite well.

Sean Cullen is still in the running as of this writing. He’s the Toronto-based comedian who has starred in The Producers and used to host his own TV show.  Some of the funniest stuff he has done has been musical.  He performs a song he wrote called “I’m the Only Gay Eskimo In My Tribe”.  It’s not homophobic (and neither am I!) but it centres on the particular problems a lone gay Eskimo would have.  Hilarious!

So, naturally, I’m rooting for him.  If not Sean, then I think Louis Ramey should get the crown.  There are very funny people in the final few but I can assure you that Jim Tavare doesn’t have a prayer (they’ll never select a Brit with a symphonically-centred set) and Ilise is a dark horse who might just pull it off and become the first female winner – but I doubt it.

If you love stand-up and sketch comedy, this is the show for you! I love it.  I wish it was on year round.
