Batman’s Nemesis

Called it! When Batman star Christian Bale was arrested after his Mom and sister complained that he assaulted them, I predicted it was a case of them hitting him up for money. 

During a swanky fete to celebrate the new movie, the actor’s sister tried to hit him up for 200 grand to “ease the burden” of raising her three children.  For all we know, this is funding request number 100.  Anyway, he said no and Ma and sis flew into a rage.  Ma insulted Mrs. Bale and Christian apparently launched a screaming barrage in defence of his wife. Mama admitted she wanted to “teach him a lesson” so she called the bobbies and filed an assault charge.

You can’t pick your family members. It must put a strain on things when you’ve come from almost nothing and your sibling becomes world famous and wealthy beyond your dreams while you are stuck back in your ordinary life.  A healthy sib would be happy for her brother. Personally, I would do cartwheels if this happened to mine.  But a family of dysfunction, which this appears to be, would come after what they believe is their “share”. There is a big difference in offering to give someone a huge sum and having them ask for it because they feel that they’re entitled.  One makes you feel good.  The other makes you feel like an ATM.

So now Bale has to deal with this family squabble in the playground of the international media.  He has begged for privacy but  – hands up, all who think that will happen?  Didn’t think so.   Meantime, his sister gets no money and this Christmas is ruined for everyone.
