Barenaked Ladies Can Have Kraft Dinner and a Monkey
The Princess Margaret Cash and Cars Lottery people asked some of us at Rogers radio what we would do if we won a million dollars. Our answers appear in today’s Toronto Star on page AA3.
I can’t speak for the others – except maybe Erin and Paul because I know them both well – but my response is truly what I would do with a ‘found’ million. I can think of nothing better than unburdening people I care about of their debts. It’s the gift of freedom! And then you have to celebrate in the tropics. I’d need to keep a little bit for myself, to grow for the future. Then Big Brothers and Sisters and The War Amps would each recieve a chunk.
Big Brothers is an obvious one for me, as a Big Sister. But why the War Amps? Long ago and far away in another life a baby was born to someone close to me and this sweet little newborn had only one arm. The War Amps may have “war” in their name but they also work with children who have birth defects and I came to know of their compassion and caring through this little being – who is now in her 20′s, by the way!
I like these charitable lotteries because it’s incentive for people to give and there’s a potential for an incredible return on your $100 investment. Our appearances in the ad today were purely voluntary. When it comes to beating cancer, I’ll do just about anything to help.
