Hey, Remember the 80′s?

I remember the ’80′s and you will too because they’re back in our faces in clothing stores this fall.

Fashion goes around and comes back around, but this year’s crop of new clothes is particularly unnerving. Nygard revealed its fall collection which featured a long cardigan that’s not just similar to one I wore in the ’80′s, it is exact – right down to the big, goofy buttons and the mottled browns of the yarn.

Today, my second favourite hair stylist (whose talents I employ when my favourite is busy) was wearing a virtual copy of an outfit I have pictures of myself wearing in Las Vegas circa 1982; a longish, light, dressier sweatshirt type of top with skin-tight leggings. Looking at her, I could almost hear the slot machines.

It’s not the first time my wardrobe from the past has come back to haunt me but I think it’s the beginning of the 1980′s resurgence and I’m not sure we really need to go there. People had little regard for their body types and stuffed XL butt cheeks into XS spandex thinking it was slimming. It was not! I’m not sure I can tolerate a sea of black stirrup pants and big shoulder pads again and I know for sure that I won’t be jumping on this particular retro bandwagon.
