Review: You Me and Dupree
Posted By Lisa
I’d like to suggest a more specific and accurate, if wordy title.
An Inexplicably, Increasingly Paranoid Dude, His Sweet and Far Too Tolerant Wife and a Half-Written Role To Get Owen Wilson In The Movie By Telling Him “We’ll Fix It In Post”.
It’s disappointing and an excellent example of one of my comedy pet peeves; the characters call each other by name far too often. It’s pretty clear who Dupree is – Kate Hudson doesn’t have to remind us every 14 seconds!
Matt Dillon is terribly miscast. It might have worked if Ben Stiller was in the role. Even then, this is a half-baked script for a potentially great idea, and perhaps seems even less successful in the wake of such funny Wilson flicks as The Wedding Crashers and Cars.
