Silent Bob Disappoints

Director Kevin Smith appeared live on our music station CHFI this morning. I didn’t get a chance to meet him, hermetically sealed as I am in the 680 News booth except for a sprint/pee once an hour ro so. He apparently toned it down for family friendly radio but Silent Bob did open his segment by trashing the music CHFI plays.

How uncool is that?

You’re a guest in someone’s “house” and the first thing you do is criticize the decor? It doesn’t matter if you agree or not, or if he’s right or wrong, Kevin baby, love ya, but you’ve obviously gone Hollywood. Maybe having to choke down the trademark profanity was just too much for him but the red carpet was being rolled out for him and he wiped his muddy boots on it.

I’ve seen all of his movies. I own Dogma. I have the university lecture on tape. He tells some amazing and funny stories about working for Prince and other behind the scenes stuff. He has to be genuine, but he doesn’t have to be a jerk. Colour me disappointed.
